The experience
I collect you from your hotel and we head for an easy forest area close to Helsinki with both lit and unlit paths. We walk into the darkness of the Finnish autumn and winter, and you find how surprisingly calming it can be. The paths get smaller and smaller, until we gather in a dark enough spot and turn our torches off.
Afterwards we make a campfire or head to the warmth of a café for hot chocolate and Finnish korvapuusti (cinnamon bun), and talk about it. If the sky is clear, we might see the starry northern sky — auroras are unfortunately not so common in southern Finland.
Then I drive you back to your hotel.
Where we go
- A carefully chosen forest in the Helsinki region, with both lit and unlit paths0.5 hours to 1 hour each way
I choose the final destination based on the weather and snow conditions. Campfire upon request!

If you or anyone in your party is already very afraid of the dark, this is not for you. It is meant to be exciting and different, not to cause stress, anxiety or fear. Get in touch if you have any doubts. We go out in all weather, unless I judge it too harsh. I have rain gear you can borrow or buy.

Taste of the wild
A true forest experience in the heart of Helsinki, the way locals relax. Step from city streets into the forest, where the noise fades almost at once. A gentle walk of conversation and quiet, with stories of Finnish forest spirits and the bear, plus a break for juice and korvapuusti cinnamon rolls.

Echoes of the ice age
The land the glaciers carved, and the stories we told about them. How did 200-ton boulders — once frozen in glaciers — come to rest in the forests, as if placed by giants or “Hiisi” (the devil)? Two trails: stunning Kallahti in east Helsinki, or Hanikka in Espoo for more challenge.

The spirit of Finnish women
This experience is designed for those who want to explore nature safely while discovering stories of ancient and modern Finnish women’s resilience, survival skills and once-sacred beliefs that gave power over forest beasts. Everyone is welcome - these stories belong to all of us.
