The experience
We meet at your hotel in the morning and head to the destination by car. We chat in the car about the tour and about Finland and the Finnish culture. We stop for a break before the walk if needed to ensure everyone is ready.
We walk and explore and you will hear stories of the Finnish forest spirits, the bear, Kalevala’s heroes and the mighty sorceress Louhi. We admire whatever plants or birds the season might show us. You will walk at your own pace all day. We’ll stop for a meal break before heading back or on the way back. You will return to your hotel with red cheeks from the outdoors yet happy that you took the adventure.
Where we go
- Lake Iso-MelkutinLoppi · 2 h each way
A 6–7 km walk around a clear-water lake popular with divers, over rolling pine hills and tree-root paths, with stories of water spirits and Näkki. The lake owes its clarity to a block of ice age ice that melted right where it lay, thousands of years ago.
Medium - Giant’s pots – Askolan hiidenkirnutAskola · 1.5–2 h each way
Glacial potholes in dark forest, with folklore of forest spirits. Twenty glacial potholes carved into dark forest bedrock — the most in one place anywhere in Finland. The largest, nicknamed the Giant’s Bathtub, runs over ten metres deep. Old folklore blamed hiisi, the forest devil, for churning them out.
Medium - Torronsuo National ParkTammela · 2 h each way
A 10 km duckboard trail across Finland’s deepest bog — the peat runs over 13 metres down — with Lapland-like landscapes in southern Finland and stories of how water separated the visible and the under world.
Medium - Kukuljärvi trailsLoviisa · 1.5 h each way
About 10 km through varied forest and lakes, with a climb up Huuhkajavuori — Eagle Owl Hill — for a wide view over the treetops. Can be combined with a stop at the old Strömfors ironworks village (summer). A good fitness level is needed.
Difficult - Häme Castle and Aulanko forestHämeenlinna · 1–1.5 h each way
Finland’s oldest and best-preserved stone castle, over 700 years old, paired with a walk through Aulanko’s forest — the same woods that once inspired the composer Sibelius. Climb the old granite lookout tower for views over the lake.
Easy - Bespoke destination or multi-day itinerary based on your needs and wishes1–2 h each way

Welcome darkness
Step out of the ordinary and let sleeping forests whisper of long nights and their secrets. Join me for a safe dark forest experience with torches, warm drinks and stories that your ancestors told sitting by the fire. Your senses sharpen and your imagination is freed from the familiar.

Taste of the wild
A true forest experience in the heart of Helsinki, the way locals relax. Step from city streets into the forest, where the noise fades almost at once. A gentle walk of conversation and quiet, with stories of Finnish forest spirits and the bear, plus a break for juice and korvapuusti cinnamon rolls.

Echoes of the ice age
The land the glaciers carved, and the stories we told about them. How did 200-ton boulders — once frozen in glaciers — come to rest in the forests, as if placed by giants or “Hiisi” (the devil)? Two trails: stunning Kallahti in east Helsinki, or Hanikka in Espoo for more challenge.
