The experience
I’ll pick you up from your hotel and we’ll drive to the forest. The journey takes about 15–30 minutes.
You will admire the nature around you, see old trees and the forest where people here go for their everyday forest bathing. You will hear about Finland’s history, which is rich with tales of powerful women — from Louhi, the sorceress of the Kalevala, to the maids of the forest, to the resourceful emäntäs, the mistresses of the house, who held households together through the war years and still do. And on to modern prime ministers and presidents.
We will have a break to taste Finnish berry juice and home-baked korvapuusti, after which we continue our walk, talk about how Finns forest-bathe today and head back to the centre of Helsinki.
