Easy and close to the city
- Helsinki’s Central forest (Keskuspuisto)The green heart of Helsinki where locals escape the city. Traverse 10-15km from north to south in the forest (~35min drive + 10-15km walk) - we’ll walk our way through the forest with tales of the Kalevala whispered by the wind. One way transportation: we’ll walk back to the city center at your pace. Perfect for groups seeking a gentle introduction to Finnish nature, with cultural depth.
Medium Adventures
- Tour of lake Iso-Melkutin, Loppi (2+2h, 6-7km walk) crystal clear water lake in favor of divers. The route has rolling pine forest hills and tree-root paths with the lake where we’ll share stories of water spirits and Näkki.
- Askolan hiidenkirnut - Devil’s pot holes in Askola, mystical glacial formations shaped by the Ice Age, surrounded by a dark forest with folklore of forest spirits.
Difficult & Rewarding
- Torronsuo national park, Tammela (drive 2+2h, walk 10km) with unique Lapland like landscapes in southern Finland, on duckboard trails across pristine swamps. Hear about bog stories and how water separated different worlds in ancient Finland
- Kukuljärvi, Loviisa, trail with variable forests and lakes + visit Porvoo or Loviisa town (drive 1,5+1,5h medium ~10km trail, good fitness level required)
